Opinion: What the “FUD” is Going On? ‘

Activities in the public interest is a main rule of sound journalistic aspiration. From E. Murrow to The Snowden investigation, sharp investigatory journalism has brought down governments, agencies, politicians and laws.

Nevertheless, in a changing landscape, the global community has become more fractured, fragmented and disparate. While #FAKENEWS becomes an epithet of anything one disagrees with – regardless of fact – we are fast moving towards a post-truth world.

We have an experience that has contaminated the cryptocurrency scenery. It’s called “FUD” (Fear Uncertainty Doubt). It is a overall phrase that is applied to media articles one doesn’t like.

The “FUD” nickname can be seen in the comments section on this website. You can look further afield among the multiplicity of cryptocurrency news sites and find similar usage among the public commentariat.

Why is it important?

Having a derogatory term applied liberally to any article that defines, in the readers’ brain, a negative contact between the maintenance and the crypto landscape makes a problem for both readers and news suppliers.

This makes a doubtful conclusion, one that sees negative news just as ‘FUD’ and therein false news. This causes a problem. News websites rely on readership which in turn are funded by online advertising. If a website publishes content that is supposed to be too “FUD” and asks awkward questions to the influential; how can such journalism fund itself in a swamp of propaganda?

However, there is a sense that those trading the “FUD” assaults simply want positive news, day after day, to help educate their own insecurities. Propaganda isn’t the alternative. Propaganda isn’t news. It is information without objectivity used to affect public to further an agenda.

Calling out “FUD” for what it really is!

Crypto news journalism should attack the “FUD” movement for what it is. It is a fear that curious journalism could cause the torch of journalistic truth illuminating the poor behavior of an uncontrollable, decentralised, nameless crypto elite who is afraid of being exposed.

Those trading “FUD”, and attacking articles with any negative attitude as a wholesale assault on cryptocurrencies, fail to understand the importance of such analysis and investigation. At the moment, Twitter accounts are peddling false news to trick unsuspecting investors. At thismoment, Telegram groups are collecting to organize the next “Pump and Dump” crypto event. At the moment, probably, an exchange is in trouble and is covering this experience up.

It is correct that these experiences are highlighted. It is right that the cryptocurrency news community becomes a bulwark of truth prtecting those who want free, justice and candid news against the alternative – propaganda.

Cryptocurrency Deserves Trusted Journalism

Crypto and the blockchain technology are of the opinion it will change society in the 21 century. Nobody can doubt this. Nevertheless, there is a need for good journalism to shine in order to hold those in power to account.

Correct cryptocurrency journalism is about trust, it is about being non-biased, it is about continuity, it is about understanding balance and finally reporting in an honest way. In order to become a reporter for CCN, applicants are requested to sign an ethic statement outlining their own commitment. Other news sites do the same.

The average cryptocurrency investor must have trust in truth over “FUD”. We must move beyond clickbait, pursuit and doxing, misquoting, misrepresenting positions and facts. The post-truth doctrine is a mistake. We must follow the standard rules of good journalism and the cryptocurrency public will need to grow up to understand the importance of this modification.

Honest and reliable cryptocurrency journalism is the cryptocurrency sector’s own cultural conscience. It might be hard, it might challenge your faith, it might make your blood boil will rage, but journalists have a right to shine the journalistic light of truth on crime and tell the wider world about disparity – the cryptocurrency landscape isn’t released from this ideal.
