Consensus 2018 ended, the crypto market did not meet expectations

14 to 16 May in New York for the 4th world’s largest blockchain conference took place – Consensus 2018.

It was attended by 250 speakers and experts, Litecoin founder Charlie Lee, the creator of Stellar Jed McCaleb, as well as other famous personalities are among them.

This year, the organizers of the Consensus conference expected more than 4 000 participants (2700 was in 2017), and in fact they were about 8 500 people.

The previous Consensus conference brought a movement to the market, Bitcoin rate jumped by 69% and continued to grow for another two months. This year, the optimistic expectations of crypto investors have not been met. The total market capitalization decreased from $409 billion to $372 billion during the conference, Bitcoin fell by 5%.

On May 19, three days after the conference, Bitcoin is trading at $8 319,49 (1,45% in a 24-hour period). The total market capitalization is $379 832 000 000 by the press time.

Consensus 2018 has ended. The crypto market hasn’t started growing at a crazy pace, as it was during the previous Consensus conference. There is still no increase of interest from new people. And that can just be another proof that the market does exactly the opposite of what you expect it to do.
