Make.Gifts’ founder accidentally NFTs Cointelegraph’s editor-in-chief & DSRPTD host at DSRPTD 2021!

It was the evening of Wednesday, October 27, 2021, in Dubai where Ihor Kubalskiy, the founder of Make.Gifts, the NFT gifting platform, has traveled in search of new opportunities like investors or strategic partners who might give his project the scalability for which he has been looking.

Dubai. The city of unprecedented growth, with unmatched inverted cosmopolitan demographics of more than 80% to 90% of the population at any given point in time coming from 200 countries — this is where Ihor wants to be. He has heard a lot about how this city has grown in 20 years, more than other countries have done over 150 years. He has heard about DSRPTD 2021 as well, the untold summit bringing some of the biggest heavyweights from the venture capital industry and the disruptive tech world on the planet. He has no idea how to make it into DSRPTD 2021, which is where many other startups, investors, and governments wanted to be. He finds out, maybe from some friend or a stray word here or there, about Crazy Mask Lounge hosting the Closing Soiree of DSRPTD 2021 for a Goldfingr Mastermind Social, which is the last event of the exclusive closed-doors private selection summit on the last day of the DSRPTD 2021 journey.

He decides to crash into the soiree, ghosting someone else on the list, and joins the soiree where everyone was enjoying themselves and pulling the strings of conversations over the live violin music performance of Laila Amrakhova and the delicious food and drinks of Crazy Mask Lounge followed by DSRPTD Radio‘s selected beats, vibes and rhythms of Tritonal’s Tritonia and Amadeus’ Rhythm Nation trance sets. He sees those two taking pictures at the bar counter displaying a big standing Cointelegraph hashtag mock-up, a violently happy young lady and a smiling young man with disruptive eyes, with someone amid an intimate crowd with sparkling eyes taking a photo of them. The place is full of energy.

“This is it!” Ihor says to himself.

He pulls his phone, opens the camera and takes a photo of these two people whom he doesn’t know.

He goes to them, shows them the photo he took — as he usually does whenever he is in a crowd trying to promote his app and gain a little organic traction.

“You know that I can make an NFT of this photo of you right now and gift it to you?” Ihor says.

The two look at each other, smile and look back to him: “Sure,” they say.

“Let me show you,” he replies.

He hands his phone to them, asking them to put a description of the picture on the Make.Gifts app. They discuss for a second what they should write. The guy says something to the girl, she agrees, and they hand the phone back to him. He shows them how the simple three-step process for creating a NFT and splitting it into two parts, asks them to put their Telegram handles or Whats App, and … boom, they receive a link to claim their NFT through the app on their Telegrams.

The next day, Ihor sends a message to the guy whose photo with the lady Ihor had just NFTed:

Ihor: Hello!

Ihor: Can I send you more details about make.gifts and web NFT marketplace like tilda, that we can run in 35 min?

The guy: Sure

The guy: Please do

Ihor: Thank you

He sends the guy some links and explains to him about the app / project.

The guy gives a very strange and irrelevant reply:

The guy: And send me ur logo as well will be a pleasure to add u as an NFT partner to DSRPTD if u fancy

Ihor: Wow

Ihor: No kidding?

The guy: No kidding bro

The guy: U know who u just NFted?

Ihor: No

Ihor: Tell me

And he sends brief lines about the project again and the logo of Make.Gifts

The guy: The host and runner of DSRPTD and the editor-in-chief of Cointelegraph

Ihor: Wow

Ihor: Sorry

Ihor: Just wanna show how easy our product works

The guy: U r welcome bro (with a handshake emoji)

The guy: Will send u shortly something

Ihor: Thanks
