Afghanistan bans transactions with cryptocurrencies

The Central Bank of Afghanistan introduced a ban on mining and the use of cryptocurrency, Bloomberg reported. According to Syed Shah Sadaat, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, thirteen people have already been arrested in Herat, and more than twenty companies trading digital tokens have been closed.

The Central Bank of Afghanistan imposes a ban on bitcoin trading on all exchanges and for all individuals and legal entities. According to Bloomberg, the country’s residents have been actively using cryptocurrencies to save their funds.

The research company Chainalysis informed that Afghanistan was one of the leading countries in terms of crypto use as of late 2021.
