Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has announced the integration of the Apple Pay mobile payment system for its partners who want to increase sales by introducing new payment methods. The Circle team posted the news about this on their blog on November 15.
With Apple Pay integration, Circle partners will be able to accept payments, offering a simple, secure and confidential payment method. The service is available both for mobile device users and online via Safari browser or apps. At the same time, customers will no longer have to create accounts or fill out long forms for payment.
Circle’s announcement notes that the service can be especially useful for cryptocurrency companies, as it will help them create strong connections with customers who want to pay using traditional methods. It will also allow them to buy cryptocurrency using Apple Pay on their preferred exchanges. In fact, the combination of Apple Pay and Circle Payments solutions will allow crypto companies to accept payments from customers who do not use cryptocurrency at all, Circle stressed.
Traditional businesses can also take advantage of this improvement to transfer more retail payments to the digital currency, which is settled in the USDC.
This is just one step towards the convergence of traditional and digital payments, Circle writes. At the Converge22 conference, the team announced additional services for sellers that will allow them to accept payments in cryptocurrencies such as BTC and ETH.
USDC is the second largest centralized stablecoin and ranks fifth in the overall rating of cryptocurrencies with a capitalization of $44.38 billion (as of November 15, 16:20 Moscow time).
In March, the decentralized crypto wallet MetaMask announced the support of Apple Pay for the purchase of cryptocurrencies. And in April, the OpenSea NFT marketplace announced the acceptance of payments using bank cards through the payment infrastructure of MoonPay. Users will be able to pay not only ETH, but also make purchases using Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
