Bukele stores part of the country’s bitcoins on the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) decided to clarify the situation.
CZ wrote that he corresponded with the President of El Salvador literally on November 10 and he confirmed that he does not store anything there and, fortunately, has never had any dealings with FTX.
He asked Mike Novogratz, who started this rumor, not to spread disinformation, the volumes of which are already enormous.
Other members of the crypto community also did not like Novogratz’s statements.
El Salvador did not have bitcoins on FTX.
After that, Novogratz apologized to the President and the citizens of El Salvador, explaining that he himself had become a victim of fake news. He thanked CZ for opening his eyes to him, and in general he is a big fan of El Salvador.
