The State Duma called for enhanced regulation of the cryptocurrencies

On March 2, at a meeting of the Expert Advisory Council under the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO, they called on to pay special attention to the regulation of cryptocurrencies. The CSTO includes countries such as Russia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.

Chairman of the Standing Commission of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on Defense and Security, State Duma Deputy Anatoly Vyborny believes that criminals are increasingly using cryptocurrencies and the darknet. Consequently, ensuring cybersecurity requires close attention to these issues, the MP said.

“The key topic today is cybersecurity. Cross-border instruments such as cryptocurrencies and anonymous darknet networks are increasingly in the hands of criminals. In this regard, it is necessary to consolidate our common efforts in the fight against new types of crime, paying special attention to the regulation of virtual assets and the fight against information threats,” said Vyborny, opening the meeting.

Last year, the deputy has already made statements in the direction of cryptocurrencies. Anatoly Vyborny stated that cryptocurrencies are actively used by various groups to finance terrorist activities.
