LisCon, an inaugural Ethereum event, will come to Lisbon in October to unite builders, thinkers, and creators to foster a guided immersion in Web3 culture

LisCon, a community run Ethereum event, comes to Lisbon, Portugal on October 20-21, 2021 to bring together top Web3 thought leaders for two days of innovative talks, workshops and discussions after a year of Eth all-time highs, the explosion of the NFT market, and the Total Value Locked (TVL) of DeFi nearly toppling $200 Billion earlier this month.

This event gives the Ethereum community the chance to collaborate, learn, and unite to celebrate the rapid innovations in the evolving crypto space.

Kevin Owocki, founder of Gitcoin says: “Participating in LisCon is special to me because there’s no better place to experience the culture, values, and ethos of the Ethereum community than a curated event like this. Ethereum has a broad cultural tapestry of many different different values, missions, people, and subcultures. It is the diversity and gestalt of these that is what makes the Ethereum movement so meaningful to be a part of.”

Headline speakers at this year’s event include Stani Kulechov, founder and CEO of Polygon-based protocol Aave, Kevin Owoki, founder of Gitcoin, Abbey Titcombe, Head of Community at Radicle, Will Papper, co-founder of Syndicate DAO and many more.

“We created LisCon because we feel a true celebration of Web3 culture and values is important — especially as we continue to focus on building a new stage in the evolution of the internet, socio-economic dynamics, and value flows. LisCon is a coming together of builders, thinkers and creators across our space with a keen focus on diversity of perspective, expression and creative empowerment,”- says Simona Pop, co-producer of LisCon.

Other appearances include the Ethereum Foundation Research Team, which is an international education leader through tech, education and design, as well as an activist-themed NFT Gallery featuring local Portuguese artists intended to spur conversation around the social value unlocked by tools such as Ethereum.

“We are delighted to be hosting an in-person conference as the world is still recovering from Covid-19. The event has opened up an opportunity for people to connect from all over the world, growing the community in Lisbon and seeing the Portuguese ecosystem for businesses and innovative technology like crypto to thrive. This event will support and educate individuals whether you’re a student or working professional by highlighting many projects in the ecosystem and products that they are building,” says Huichi Man, Director of Provenance Events.

“‘Art and Activism’ is chosen as the theme of this NFT exhibition paying homage to the successful drops by Edward Snowden, Pussy Riot and others this year demonstrating censorship-resistant money with the potential to fund movements,” says Graham de Barra, Creator of Casa das Drogas.

“The global crypto community is tight-knit, and conferences like LisCon are essential to the sustainable growth and development of the Web3 community. Enabling builders, creators and thinkers to connect and strategize on where to go from here is only going to propel teams to generate even more value for the industry,” said Samantha Yap, Founder & CEO ofYAP Global
