On November 4, Vlad Zamfir announced via Twitter that four Ethereum (ETH) developers and he among them published a draft paper covering CBC Casper technology which intended to scale the Ethereum blockchain using the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
This version of Casper is called CBC Casper. According to its introduction available on GitHub, CBC Casper is a family of “correct-by-construction” consensus protocols.
The document contains a number of technical details and describes a decentralized consensus mechanism/ protocol that allows for the efficient integration of the PoS algorithm to the Ethereum network.
“This draft is intended to be introductory and educational, it is not a complete description of a system that can be implemented exactly as specified,” – reads the paper.
Recently, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has said the upcoming network upgrade, Serenity (also known as Ethereum 2.0), is designed to increase scalability by “1000x”.
